UFC 192 results: Ryan Bader shuts down Rashad Evans - Ryan Bader continued his UFC success against rival Rashad Evans, who entered the octagon after a gap of nearly two years looking like a fighter who was in good shape but rusty due to lack of competitive fight.
The result was a shutout on the scorecards for Bader (20-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC), who defeated Evans (19-4-1 MMA, 14-4-1 UFC) in a stand-up battle to win a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
The light heavyweight bout was the co-main event of UFC 192 event at Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Bader used the fight to show off his improved striking game as he successfully mixed kicks to the body with an accurate jab and deceptive right hand. Bader's style surprised Evans who appeared clueless from start to finish.
Evans, however, deserves credit for not lacking gameness, even as Bader appeared to pull away down the stretch. Even though Bader continued to outland Evans, he continued stalking forward, trying his best to stop Bader from winning the bout.
"People keep doubting me and calling me the 'easiest fight in the division,' but I keep running through them," Bader said. "My mentality is different. I decided I wanted to be the champion of this sport, and that's what's driving me. I was usually just focusing on boxing, but I've been working on being more agile on the feet and getting better. I'm hitting my stride and getting better and better. Rashad was calling me an easy fight, and no disrespect to him, but I got through him. (Daniel Cormier) was calling me out, so I'm ready for him to beat Alexander (Gustafsson), and then I want to fight D.C."
