Politics on Dadri lynching: BJP's Sangeet Som accuses SP govt of 'appeasing' Muslims - A 50-year old man Mohammad Akhlaq was beaten to death and his 22-year old son Danish was critically injured by a mob of 200 which stormed into their home in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday night after rumors that the family had consumed beef.
Taking advantage of the current political cauldron, BJP MLA Sangeet Som on Sunday visited Dadri where he lambasted Samajwadi Party (SP) government, alleging it was trying to appease the minority community and innocent people were being framed for lynching of a man over beef eating rumor.
The BJP MLA, who was accused of making provocative speeches during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar communal riots, alleged that SP government was acting in a biased manner like it did during the riots in Muzaffarnagar district two years ago and was protecting those who had "slaughtered cow."
Som questioned why the SP government had permitted AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi to visit the village and spread "communal frenzy."
Som, who reportedly met the families of those arrested in the case, also conducted a meeting at a local temple in Bishada from where an announcement had instigated mob fury on Monday night.
Assuring all help for Danish, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said, "Best possible treatment will be ensured wherever the family wishes. We will also provide house, complete security and if required job to one family member of the family."
The Congress Party lambasted the BJP and its government at the Centre over the lynching incident and said all progressive thinking people should stand up against it.
Moreover, tension prevailed in Bishada village, Dadri, which has been thronged by political leaders following the lynching incident. District Magistrate N P Singh has written to the SSP to provide women police force in the village as local women were causing law and order problems.
