Budget carrier SpiceJet on Monday announced an "On-time Guarantee" programme in which the airline will give a Rs 500 discount voucher to a flier if the flight is delayed for more than an hour due to reasons in control of the airline.

The passengers of flights which are cancelled or delayed by over two hours will get Rs 1,000 voucher. This programme will come into effect from today.

The airline said that the scheme does not cover for any delay due to reasons such as weather, air traffic congestions.

Kaneswaran Avili, Chief Commercial Officer of SpiceJet, said, "We have delivered a significant improvement in our on time performance over the last few months. This is the result of SpiceJet's renewed focus on delivering superior customer experience."

The travelers will be able to avail the redemptions by logging into on spicejet.com. The airline said that the passenger will receive a message and mail indicating the redemption process as soon as the flight gets delayed or cancelled.
