SpiceJet extends Rs. 499 scheme booking period

Budget carrier SpiceJet on Tuesday extended its Rs. 499 limited offer limited-period scheme.

The 'Early Bird' scheme of the airline allows the customers to book ticket for as low as Rs. 499 on its domestic network.

The offer is now applicable for bookings made till September 5, 2015 (inclusive) and travel date between January 16, 2015, and October 24, 2015 (both dates inclusive). In the original offer, the bookings for this scheme were open till September 3, 2014.

The fares are inclusive of fuel surcharge but exclude the statutory taxes and fees. The promotional offer is only valid on SpiceJet's domestic network. The fares under this sale are non-refundable and non- changeable.

The scheme opened on September 1 and over 1 lakh tickets were sold under this special scheme. It may be recalled that the fare war was started by SpiceJet in January with the carrier offering 50 per cent discounted fares. Soon, all other airlines including the national carrier Air India launched similar schemes.

"While the number of travellers opting for air travel during holidays has increased over the years, with the introduction of Early Bird sale, this number will only grow further. This Early Bird sale will encourage customers to make their holiday plans well in advance and save on travel costs at the same time," said Kaneswaran Avili, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet.
