Los Angeles: NBA rumor mill is now churning overtime and the the latest rumors claim that the Philadelphia 76ers may finally be trading Jahlil Okafor to the Boston Celtics. Such scenario is likely to happen under the assumption that the Celtics could choose LSU guard Ben Simmons.
The insecurity of Okafor with his current team has been previously mentioned. Keith Pompey of Philly talked about the difficulty of the 76ers in coupling Okafor with Joel Embid or Nerlens Noel, and suggesting the trade possibility for Okafor once Embid has fully recovered.
Previously, it has been reported that before the NBA trade deadline, Celtics were desperately chasing the offense-oriented center, Okafor. However, the deal did not turn as expected for the Sixers.
And now rumors have again surfaced that Boston could be in a good position to choose from either "Oklahoma's Buddy Hield, Duke's Brandon Ingram or the presumptive number-one pick, LSU's 6'10" multi-purpose guard Ben Simmons," the Celtics-Sixers trade deal has once again risen.
But still this conjecture lacks a firm foundation seeing the performance of Okafor in his rookie season, recording a career-high 31 points against Dallas Maverick last month, thus impressing his coach Brett Brown.
With both teams present situation, Celtics in search of a stable center, and Sixers having a bunch in their team, it cannot be helped to join the dots. But there is a dot missing which can be determined only after the Celtics make their pick.
