The spacecraft took off h last November with all its payloads in good condition. ISRO added that Mars Orbiter or Mangalyaan has so far covered over 540 million km on its journey to the Red planet.
ISRO remarked that the Mars Orbiter has completed nearly 80 percent of its journey and it would enter the orbit of the Red Planet by September 24.
"Yes, that is very close to a whopping 80 percent". Mars Orbit Mission and its payloads are in good health," ISRO said on Twitter.
In the last crucial step, the second Trajectory Correction Manoeuvre was performed by ISRO on the spacecraft on June 11. The space agency fired the 22 Newton thrusters of the spacecraft for 16 seconds to achieve this goal. The space agencies normally undertake mid-course corrections to keep the spacecraft on course.
ISRO has planned the next trajectory correction manoeuvre in August before performing the Mars Orbit Insertion in September.
The total budget of the mission is Rs.450 crore. The Mars Orbiter was launched on November 5, 2013.
