With Yuvraj Singh's exit disturbing India's settled line-up, the team has been left with a selection catch to handle as they prepare to face the flamboyant and energetic West Indies in the World Twenty20 semifinal.
Yuvraj has been forced to exit because of an ankle injury that he sustained in the must-win game against Australia.
Manish Pandey, not in the original 15, has been marked in to replace the all-rounder in the team although Ajinkya Rahane is also present as a feasible alternative. But it remains to be seen whether Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni chooses between the two or decides to go with novice all-rounder Pawan Negi.
Both teams reach the semi-finals after getting beaten once each in the Super 10 stage and as such the team that seizes its chances is likely to come out victorious.
The face-off record between the two rivals in past World Twenty20s is 2-1 in favour of the West Indies. However, India, with a strong team on paper, appear to have the edge even though quite a few players have not performed well.
Kohli has been the star in India's progress this far. With his dependably excellent performance, he is the batsman that Windies will be cautious of the most, in addition to reliable skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Windies, powered by Gayle force would be wanting to put the shock loss against Afghanistan behind them.
One of the key clashes to watch out for will be Ravichandran Ashwin against the left-handed Gayle who bombed this venue with 11 lofty sixes in the game against England in which the Windies were successful in chasing a 180-plus total successfully by riding on the Jamaican's heroic 100 not out.
The pitch has generated three high-scoring games so far with South Africa achieving back to back 200-plus totals.
But hints are that the track for semifinal game would not be as decent for batting as the previous ones. It's expected to be a bit slow, which should help India more than the Windies.
