The service launche today is free for Rhapsody subscribers and it is available as a separate service for $4.99 per month. The new service is discounted or free for T-Mobile customers.
Rhapsody is hopeful that unRadio will manage to find a place for itself in the space between free music and full paid on-demand services. Pandora, Songza, Beats and others kept on claiming that a catalog containing 30 million tracks is not worth using and people need a lean-back experience.
unRadio can prove the solution to this dilemma as it offers features that include: unlimited stations; save songs; live streaming of global broadcast radio; 32 million tracks and TrackMatch.
From June 23, T-Mobile users will be able to use unRadio at no additional charge. The service will be available to Simple Choice customers on T-Mobile?s newest unlimited 4G LTE data service. Other users can avail this service at a discounted price of $4 per month.
T-Mobile has also launched a new offer named Music Freedom under which a user can stream songs from most major services including Rhapsody, Spotify and Pandora.
Experts have welcomed Rhapsody?s move saying it could lead the country towards greater heights. We know that the market for subscription music streaming is yet to explode as the companies are still finding it tough to find out what might drive main stream adoption.
For Spotify and others, free ad-supported music was the best way but this path is not sustainable.
