YouTube adds 'Spotlight Stories' for Android to 360-Degree Video - Google is bringing its Spotlight Stories - immersive, 360-degree animated videos meant to introduce a new form of storytelling - to YouTube.
The first story is a holiday film called "Special Delivery," from Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman Animations.
The animated short story revolves around a building custodian trying to find a "mysterious stranger" who remains out of sight but leaves behind a trail of gifts.
The immersive films permit users to drill down into sub-stories within their plot by moving their phone towards what they want to see.
Technical project lead, Rachid El Guerrab, said the sensors on the phone allow the story to be interactive, so when you move your phone to various scenes, you unlock mini-stories within the story.
