Windows 10 app compatibility and Microsoft Edge policy lists published

Microsoft has launched a website that can be used by the IT professionals to check if an application is compatible with Windows 10.

The new Ready for Windows site works also as a resource for independent software developers, letting them broadcast app compatibility. ISVs need to sign up in order to list their applications as Windows 10 compatible.

According to the Redmond-based company, the Ready for Windows site has a search box to find specific software company listings, as well as a "full directory" drop-down list. At press time, about 134 ISVs and their Windows 10-compatible apps were listed.

The controversial Get Windows 10 (GWX) app developed by Microsoft is also capable of flagging applications that may be incompatible with Windows 10. In order to get a list via the GWX app, you will need to go through a few steps.

Windows 10 is described as being compatible with both classic Win32 applications, as well as so-called "modern" Windows Universal Apps.

The Redmond-based software giant recently also announced this list of policies for enterprises managing the Microsoft Edge browser. Edge and Internet Explorer 11 both are available for use with Windows 10.

The Edge management policies include capabilities such as configuring the password manager, popup blocker and the Enterprise Mode Site List, among others.
