Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday will on Wednesday make statement in Parliament on the controversial AgustaWestland chopper deal.
Last week a huge furore was witnessed in Rajya Sabha after BJP MP Subramanian Swamy took the name of Congress president Sonia Gandhi while speaking on the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam issue.
The issue has now become a completely political one with both the government and the opposition parties blaming each other for disrupting the functioning of the ongoing parliament session. Swamy has accused Sonia Gandhi of taking bribes in the Rs 3600 crore deal.
Commenting on the alleged VVIP chopper scam, Swamy told ABP news channel, "The bribe paid had not come to India, it has been deposited in foreign banks. According to me, Sonia Gandhi was given bribe and she deposited the money in Sarasin Bank in Geneva and Pictet bank in Zurich."
The issue grabbed headlines in India after an Italian court jailed AgustaWestland's former head Bruno Spagnolini on the charges of false accounting and corruption in the sale of the 12 VVIP choppers to India.
Some court documents contain the names of former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president, her political adviser Ahmad Patel and former Indian Air Force chief SP Tyagi.
