Women rights' activist Trupti Desai entered the Haji Ali dargah in Mumbai at around 6 am on Thursday. It may be recalled that Trupti was denied entry inside the dargah last month.
Trupti, however, did not try to enter the inner sanctum or the core area of the Haji Ali on Thursday.
Women are not allowed inside the inner sanctum. Trupti went to the dargah with a group of policemen and other activists.
"Prayed that women be allowed to enter the inner sanctum," she said after her visit amid tight security.
Trupti and her Bhumata Brigade has been campaigning against the ban on women entering religious places and there organisation had succeeded in the breaking the centuries old practice of not allowing the entry of women at Maharashtra's Shani Shingnapur temple in March.
When Trupti attempted to enter the dargah last time, she faced vehement opposition from the locals. At that time she had vowed to enter the dargah even if she has to face arrest.
