SpiceJet assures steady operations, hopes to resolve settlement disputes soon

Beleaguered budget airline SpiceJet said it expects to resolve settlement disputes with its lessors soon and that there will be no interruption in the operations of the airlines.

The low-cost air carrier was on the brink of collapsing last year after it ran out of cash to make payments to its creditors.

However, the co-founder of the airline, Ajay Singh pumped in the rescue package to keep the airline functioning.

The Delhi High Court had given the order to the aviation regulator to de-register six SpiceJet aircraft that belonged to two lessors.

According to the airline, it has reached an in-principle understanding with one of the two lessors and the talks are on with the other.

It added further that the present condition of the company is "very different" from what it was in late 2014.

SpiceJet said in a statement that it intends to add 8-9 Boeing aircraft to its fleet in April. The company also expects to take its Boeing fleet up to 34-35 aircraft by the end of the current year.
