RIL rejects claims of drawing out gas from ONGC's reservoirs

Reliance Industries has claimed that Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has failed to develop its gas fields and it is trying to hide its failure by dragging RIL?s name.

The Mukesh Ambani-led group said that the ONGC's claim that RIL was drawing natural gas illegally from its reservoir is baseless.

The RIL has filed a final affidavit in the Delhi high court. It has claimed that the company has not drawn out gas from ONGC's reservoirs.

ONGC has accused the RIL, oil ministry and the directorate general of hydrocarbons of drawing gas worth thousands of crores of rupees from a common reservoir in the KG-D6 block.

The state-run firm has also alleged that the authorities did not pay any heed to their complaints.

RIL said in a statement that it is impossible to allege much less to conclude that the discoveries within the ONGC and RIL blocks are connected.

It is the case of these respondents that there is no continuity or connectivity between the RIL block and ONGC block as is being falsely suggested by the petitioner.

The affidavit added that ONGC's petition is completely devoid of any merit or substance whatsoever and is a mala fide attempt on the part of the petitioners to hide and camouflage complete inaction on the part of the petitioner.
