Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was on Sunday crowned Miss Universe 2015 at a glittering event in Las Vegas, USA.

The host first announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner but corrected the mistake within seconds to announce Wurtzbach's name.

Wurtzbach, 26, beat 79 other contestants to win the much-coveted beauty pageant title. Wurtzbach also garnered the top global fan vote.

For the Top 5's question and answer portion, one of the judges asked Wurtzbach whether she thinks the US should send its have military presence in the Philippines. She answered,"I see no problem with that at all."

When asked, why she should be the next Miss Universe, "I will use my voice to influence youth." She added, "I want to show the world that I am confidently beautiful with a heart."

USA's Olivia Jordan and Colombia's rounded up the Top 3. Wurtzbach joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2013 where she was 1st runner-up and Binibining Pilipinas 2014 where she placed in the Top 15.
