Orlando gunman Omar Mateen’s wife has reportedly told federal agents that she had tried to talk her husband out of carrying out an attack.
29-year-old Omar opened fire at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, early Sunday, killing 49 and injuring 53 others. Omar Mateen was himself killed in an exchange of gunfire with police.
Omar’s current wife, Noor, informed the FBI that she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster. She further said that Omar once went to Pulse nightclub with her as he wanted to scope it out.
It has been reported that authorities are considering filing criminal charges against Omar Mateen’s wife Noor for not informing them that she knew before the attack. Officials, however, say that she is cooperating with investigators.
Omar was earlier married to Sitora Yusufiy. She also spoke to the FBI on Sunday about Omar.
At a press conference, Yusufiy said that she met Omar Mateen online and they got married in 2009. She claimed Mateen physically abused her, and they got divorced in 2011.
