It's been 23 years since Aladdin was released and introduced us to the late Robin Williams' take on Genie, the character who is still remembered by the fans.
Disney is commemorating the film's anniversary by re-releasing the movie with bonus behind-the-scenes footage, including never-before-seen clips of Williams in the recording studio taking on Genie's different personalities.
"We wrote the part with Robin in mind, but we didn't know if he would do it," explained Aladdin co-writer John Musker. "Fortunately for us, he did, [but]we were totally walking down the plank. If he said no, we were in big trouble because the whole concept was built around Robin."
Williams decided to act in the Oscar-winning film and he used to put in four hours in at a time in the recording studio.
"Aside from being funny as anything, he was such a warm person," says animator Eric Goldberg. "He was the Genie - it was bigger than life."
The Aladdin Diamond Edition will hit the stores on October 13.
