NBA rumors: Dwight Howard could return to Orlando Magic

Dwight Howard is likely to use his player option to become a free agent this summer and this is the reason why rumors are swirling regarding his new team.

There was a time when Howard was once considered the top center in the entire NBA but his performance has declined in recent seasons. Injuries do affect the performance of players but Howard’s poor attitude is also responsible for his downfall.

Howard is still only 30 years old and it is likely that his career could witness a resurgence with a new team. It is expected that Howard could return to the team that originally drafted him, the Orlando Magic.

ESPN reported that Howard was also thinking of returning to Rockets, but it seems that he will not needed by rockets anymore. “It’s expected that he will become a free agent and seek a new team. Orlando, Milwaukee, Portland and Charlotte are the favorites,” added the report.

Howard left the Magic in 2012 and since then his numbers have dropped considerably. In his last season with the Magic, Howard averaged 20.6 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, and 2.1 blocks per game. In his most recent season with the Rockets, Howard averaged 13.7 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Howard started his NBA career in 2004 and it is quite possible that his body could be breaking down. Howard’s field-goal attempts per game dropped off at the end of the season.
