Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile update for Lumia 535, 635, 735, 830, 930 and Lumia 1520 coming next week

Washington: It seems that the time is near when Windows mobile users will finally get the Windows 10 Mobile update that they have been waiting for.

The news about the forthcoming updates to legacy devices comes from two sources. The first verification comes from an Italian website which alleges that Vodafone Italy has detailed information about the launch on their website.

As per Vodafone only the Lumia 535, 635, 735, 830, 930 and Lumia 1520 are eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile update, which is slated to begin launching from next week as an OTA. Strangely, the Lumia 640 and 640 XL are missing and this is odd since Microsoft had promised that these would be the first device to receive the big update.

The second confirmation comes from tipster Evan Blass who also writes for VentureBeat. According to Blass, in an email to partners, Microsoft indicates that the update would come out in March after the monthly service updates arrive on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL.

He also mentioned that the launch would begin passively, and "that users will need to initiate it manually from their handsets." After the first phase, Microsoft would start a roll out via an OTA to eligible devices.

In short, the launch is likely in the coming weeks, but Redmond-based Microsoft has not confirmed anything.
