Google wants to end password login method

Google wants to end password login method - Google has reportedly started testing a password-free login method which will allow the users to access their account using their smartphones.

Google's idea is to allow users begin the login process on the PC, but authorize the login using their smartphone notification. According to Google, the new method will be a more secure way to access accounts as it skips the two-factor authentication requirement.

A Reddit user first posted about this by writing his firsthand experience. Rohit Paul, or rp1226, said that Google has sent him an email inviting him to test the new login process on his personal device, along with a select group of account holders.

Paul said the new method works by first authorizing the phone of the users to enter the Google account. When the users type in their email on the sign-in page of Google, Google will send a notification to the smartphone of the user asking the user to approve the login.

When "yes" is tapped by the user, the computer will access your Google account without typing the password. Once the phone of the user is authenticated, the user will be allowed to enter their account on new devices by using your smartphone.

If the user's phone is lost, dead, stolen, or forgotten, the user will still be able to access the account via regular password login. For added security, the user will be prompted by Google to enter your password if it notices something strange about your login method.

"We've invited a small group of users to help test a new way to sign-in to their Google accounts, no password required," a Google spokesperson said to VentureBeat. "'Pizza,' 'password,' and '123456' -- your days are numbered."
