Google doodle marks Hedy Lamarr's 101st birth anniversary - Search engine giant Google is celebrating 101st birth anniversary of Austrian and US film actress Hedy Lamarr by posting the doodle on its homepage. The doodle features a sketch of the actress wearing a mint green gown posing with a show reel.

Dominated by the feel of 1940s, the doodle has a soundtrack, which has been created by composer Adam Ever-Hadani, playing in the backdrop.

Born on November 9, 1914, as Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler in Vienna to a successful bank director, Lamarr was discovered as an actress and brought to Berlin by producer Max Reinhardt in 1920s.

Lamarr featured in Gustav Machaty's film 'Ecstasy' in 1933. In 1938, she acted in her first Hollywood movie "Algiers" opposite Charles Boyer and went on to act with popular actors such as Jimmy Stewart, Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable.

Lamarr's famous movies include "Samson and Delilah," "H M Pulham, Esq," "I Take This Woman," and "Come Live With Me."

In 1942, she also patented an idea called the "Secret Communication System," which later became pivotal to both secure mobile phone technology and military communications.

She died at the age of 85, on January 19, 2000, in Casselberry, Florida.
