GoAir CEO resigns for 'health reasons'

In a setback to Wadia Group's GoAir, the economical carrier's CEO Giorgio De Roni has resigned. It has been reported that De Roni is resigning due to "health reasons".

During his tenure of four years, GoAir ordered 72 Airbus A302 new engine options (NEOs) and registered profits.

Sources in the industry, credited GoAir's success to a conservative expansion approach, which helped it keep the costs near to the ground.

For instance, to be able to fly abroad, the airline decided to keep the fleet size restricted to 19, instead of raising it to 20.

He felt that instead of instating the relatively less fuel-efficient A320s used currently by the industry, the airline should wait for the A320 NEO next year.
