Facebook working on sophisticated facial recognition technology

You can tag pictures of yourself, family and friends on Facebook. After the pictures are tagged, Facebook's facial recognition takes on the task of storing and analyzing the pictures to be able to suggest tagging in future.

The current technology used by Facebook is not very good as it requires manual intervention to choose the right picture from the given options.

The next level that Facebook is working on will make it possible to spot users from the side.

The new facial recognition tool called "DeepFace" will precisely recognize people even if their faces are turned sideways.

The accuracy rate of this tool is said to be 97 percent, which could be worrisome for quite a few privacy-concerned users.

Even the current facial recognition used by Facebook isn't appreciated by privacy advocates.

The new technology will be able to create a 3-D version of faces tagged and analyze them using an artificial intelligence system called Deep Learning.

It will finally help generate the side views of faces for higher precision in identification.
