Hillary Clinton had a meeting with Elizabeth Warren on Friday, said two Democrats. The private meeting took place soon after the presumptive Democratic nominee received endorsement from the Massachusetts senator.
The meeting sparked intense speculations about Warren’s prospects as a potential vice presidential pick.
Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren have had several conversations over the past month and the two talked about a wide range of issues. The staffs of both leaders are also engaged in more tactical discussions.
Friday’s meeting that lasted about an hour, took place at Clinton’s home in Washington and Warren left around 11:45 am.
It should be noted here that Clinton does not have a very strong relationship with Warren but it could change as Clinton is seeking support of all Democrats so as to win the Democratic nomination.
Warren took her time to endorse her as Clinton was endorsed by all of the Democratic women in the Senate early in her campaign with Warren being the lone holdout. There have been murmurs that the left had been trying to draft her into the presidential race as an alternative to Clinton.
“Hillary Clinton won,” Warren said. “And she won because she’s a fighter. What Bernie Sanders did was just powerfully important. He ran a campaign from the heart. And he brought millions of people into the Democratic Party,” she further said.
