California whale-watchers looking for entangled humpback

The whale watchers in Southern California are on the lookout for a humpback entangled in netting which looks to be a buoy.

Dave Anderson, the owner of a whale-and dolphin-watching company, said Saturday that one of his boats carrying tourists spotted the distressed whale late Friday off Dana Point in Orange County.

Anderson, who also heads the Dolphin Safari Whale Rescue, said the settling sun hampered the dispatch of the rescuers, but he remarked that the humpback was headed south and could be in the San Diego area Saturday.

According to Anderson, the whale is the same entangled humpback spotted off Redondo Beach in Los Angeles in late October.
