BJP left red-faced as Harish Rawat wins Uttarakhand floor test

It was the perfect day for Congress in Uttarakhand on Wednesday and a slap in the face for BJP as the Attorney-General told the Supreme Court that sacked Chief Minister Harish Rawat had clinched the numbers in the floor test in the Uttarakhand Assembly as 33 of the 61 MLAs reportedly voted for him.

"It has been proved Harish Rawat has got majority on the floor of house," Attorney-General was reported as saying. The apex court also reportedly said that Harish Rawat can resume charge as the chief minister.

The SC also said that no irregularities in the trust vote and voting pattern were found.

"AG has told the Supreme Court that they are likely to complete proceedings to revoke President's rule in Uttarakhand today," Advocate KC Kaushik, appearing for Harish Rawat, said.

Congress has been in a mood for celebration and rightly so. Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi tweeted and said he hopes that PM Narendra Modi learnt a lesson from the people of the country.
