Amazon rules Cyber Monday with 36% of all online sales

Amazon rules Cyber Monday with 36% of all online sales – Online retail giant Amazon continued to dominate sales on Cyber Monday 2015 generating an estimated 36.1% of all online sales on Monday, according to Slice Intelligence.

Slice Intelligence is a data firm that gathers e-commerce data from receipts tied to its package tracking app. Some popular brick-and-mortar retailers were left far behind: Best Buy with 5.5% of all e-commerce spending that day, followed by Walmart at 3.8%, Nordstrom JWN at 3.6% and Macy’s at 2.8%.

it is interesting to note that Amazon has not disclosed actual dollar numbers, it did talked about its performance on Thanksgiving Weekend through to Cyber Monday, noting sales of its own devices tripled.

Though Amazon dominated Cyber Monday spending, the hold of the company on total e-commerce spending has come down 2.7 percentage points compared to last year. On the other hand, Walmart’s share of online spending rose half a percentage point compared to Cyber Monday 2014.
