World's premier space agency NASA has developed 'Vertical Assembly Center' (VAC) world's largest welding tool at its New Orleans center.
According to NASA, the new welding tool could be utilized to construct the core phase of America's next incredible rocket - the Space Launch System (SLS). VAC measures 170X78 feet and it has got several modern features.
VAC can not only weld the core stage of SLS, but will also be used to join domes, rings, and barrels to finish the tanks or dry structure gatherings.
The machine can also be used to perform assessments on the finished welds. Boeing is the prime foreman for the SLS core stage, including aviation electronics.
In a statement, Charles Bolden, NASA Chairman noted "This rocket is a game changer in terms of deep space exploration and will launch Nasa astronauts to investigate asteroids and explore the surface of Mars while opening new possibilities for science missions as well."
The workers at the US-based space agency are dealing with a few extra welding tools and lately they finished welding all the rings for the first flight of SLS. SLS will be the most influential rocket for profound space missions in the world.
