#UnitedAgainstHate is a new campaign launched by Indian citizens concerned at the alarming rise in number of hate crimes and mob lynchings recently. The campaign is getting wholehearted support from all quarters and many eminent personalities are joining it.
The campaign is being joined by students, teachers, professors, business people and professionals who want to see an end to the hatred being spread in the name of cast, and religion. People from all religions are supporting the campaign that aims to defeat the divisive agenda of vested interests.
JNUSU president Mohit Pandey praised the #UnitedAgainstHate campaign saying it is the need of the hour. He urged every thinking citizen of the country to join and support the campaign.
Social activist Nadeem Khan, who has been very vocal in raising his voice against recent cases of mob lynching, said, "we all need to look within and find our humanity which is dying somewhere because of all the hatred that is being fed by political leaders and parties for their own profit."
Social activist Naved Choudhary, who too has joined the "United Against Hate" campaign, said, "we all need to remind ourselves and those around us that we are humans first, we need to remind everyone how all of us - Hindus, Muslims and others - have lived together in harmony for centuries, before some vested interests poisoned our minds with religious hatred."
"We all need to join hands against these hate mongers and defeat their poisonous agenda," he added.
Mohammad Pervez, convener of "Save Our Society" stressed, "It is critical at this time that all of us stand united against hate. These are dangerous times and if we do nothing soon the social fabric will be so torn it will be beyond repair."
You may recall that recently there has been a spurt in hate crimes like mob beatings and lynchings in India mainly over the ruse of alleged cow slaughter and smuggling cases.
It is scary that a youth is killed on a running train by a mob incited by a rumour of eating beef, when in fact he is fasting (on roza), and nobody does anything to stop the madness.
The #UnitedAgainstHate campaign is certainly the need of the hour.
