Bollywood's possibly only female superstar Sridevi was cremated on Wednesday evening with full state honours in Mumbai. Her colleagues and members of the film fraternity said a final farewell to the actress at the Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala, Mumbai on Wednesday morning, before the last rites were held.
The mourners included most of the film industry, many of them Sridevi's co-stars, all of them her friends and well-wishers. From the South, there were Chiranjeevi, who made many movies with Sridevi, her Tohfa co-star Jaya Prada and Prakash Raj.
There was almost nobody from Bollywood who wasn't there. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Hema Malini, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol - Sridevi's many colleagues, both peers and juniors, paid her their last respects.
Some, like Vidya Balan, also attended the cremation. The last rites were also attended by Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and some other stars who were not at the morning's memorial. Sridevi, dressed in bridal red and wrapped in the flag, was given a funeral with state honours.
Sridevi, 54, accidentally drowned in a Dubai hotel bathtub last Saturday. The Kapoors had been attending their nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding in Dubai last week.
