Controversial former India pace bowler S Sreesanth today got married to his girlfriend from the Jaipur royal family Bhuveneshwari Kumari, who is a jewellery designer by profession. The marriage was solemnized at the famed Guruvayoor Sree Krishna temple in Kerala.
The pre-wedding ceremonies were held on Wednesday at a hotel and were attended by the close relatives of Sreesanth and the bride, who arrived in Kerala from Rajasthan along with her close family members on December 8.
Sreesanth and Kumari were going around for the past few years and the bride showed her love for the beleagured former Indian pacer by standing beside him when Sree was going through the toughest phase of his life when he was arrested by Delhi Police and was sent to Tihar Jail following a spot-fixing scandal which happened during the last edition of the Indian Premier League.
Sources close to Sree's family said that the couple will now go to ancestral home of the fast bowler in Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district to host the reception.
Sreesanth was arrested on May 16 from Mumbai and remained behind bars till June 11 when he was granted bail by a Delhi court. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned Sreesanth for life after a probe by a committee constituted by the country's cricket body to investigate the matter found him guilty of match-fixing.
Sreesanth has been charged under the draconian Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The enxt eharing in this case is due on December 18.
Sreesanth is the only the second player from Kerala to represent the country at international level. He has played in 27 Tests claiming 87 wickets. In 53 ODIs, he has grabbed 75 wickets. Sree played 10 T20s for India and took seven wickets.
