Pokemon Go Christmas Event: Niantic reveals Special Box update following new release

The Pokemon Go Christmas Event went live on December 25, complete with free Incubators awarded when you visit your first PokeStop.

In addition, Niantic also confirmed that a Pokemon Go Special Box update is now available, which provide new items to grab from the store.

"This has been an exciting year for Pok?mon GO! As we look ahead to 2017, we have one more surprise for you!" A message from Niantic reads.

"We will be adding a few limited-time holiday item packs to the Pok?mon GO in-game shop at a discounted rate. The morning of December 25 through the afternoon of December 30 (PST), we'll be releasing Special, Great, and Ultra Boxes.

"Items in these Boxes include Incubators, Incense, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls. From the afternoon of December 30 through the afternoon of January 3 (PST) we'll release Bronze, Silver, and Gold Boxes.

"Items in these Boxes include Incense, Lure Modules, Lucky Eggs, Pok? Balls, and Great Balls."

There's Special Boxes for 250 coins, Great Boxes for 550 coins and Ultra Boxes for 1,500 coins.

Special Boxes have ten Great Balls and two Incubators, Great Boxes feature 20 Great Balls, two Incense and four Incubators, while Ultra Boxes include 25 Incense, six Incubators and 20 Ultra Balls.

Other parts of the Pokemon Go Christmas Event also launch on December 30 and will be the time when players stand a better chance of finding Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise.

Starting December 25, 2016 through January 3, 2017 (PST), PokeStops award one single-use Incubator each day after your first Photo Disc spin.

Lure Modules last for 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes
