It seems that the season is over for Memphis point guard Mike Conley and he has already donned the Grizzlies uniform for the last time.
Rumors are strong that Conley might have to look for a new team as the free agency season kicks off this summer. Reports claim that many NBA teams might show interest in hiring him.
Several analysts maintain that Conley is still the best point guard in the free agency market and this is the reason why he is a viable talent acquisition target for New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets. His recent remarks indicated pressure on Wallace's part to take measures to turn Memphis into a credible title contender.
"We need to be committed to doing the things, whatever it may be and however hard the decision may be, to do the right things in order to get us where we need to go," said Conley as quoted by New York Post. "This summer will be a fun one for me. Free agency is new for me. We'll see how it goes."
"This city is all I know. I've grown up here. But I understand it's a business and that can be the hard part," remarked Conley. "I don't think any of us are underpaid. But I have done a lot in even the last contract. I probably outplayed that one. So I know that I've been working very hard to achieve an even better one. That's something I'm looking forward to. I'm trying to establish that while I'm still in my prime," he added
Inquisitr reported that someone of Conley's ability and prowess must be recruited by the Knicks as they seek to re-build the team. "Mike Conley could be someone who can help the Knicks in a variety of ways. He is an excellent defender and play maker. Conley would be able to contain the opposing team's guard. He would be able to help on the offensive end of the floor. Conley would help Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis find better shots. He has the ability to get his own shots and penetrate the paint," wrote Jack Windham of the Inquisitr.
