The NBA Draft is done and teams are now focusing on free agency, set to begin July 1.
There are many teams who have plenty of cap space with the increased salary cap, and it is likely that many players would get ludicrous amounts of money this offseason. Since the free agency is just days away, the NBA rumor mill is starting to move at a greater speed.
Most players and teams may wait until after Kevin Durant makes his decision to make moves. Center Hassan Whiteside is not among them.
"July 1, hopefully, I'll know," Whiteside said. "I hope it's an easy decision to make."
Whiteside is going to get offer from several teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. The Heat are in a position to offer Whiteside the most money, but Whiteside said his decision won't be about loyalty, but rather about his best fit for him.
The Chicago Bulls have already traded Derrick Rose, and it is likely that they would now trade power forward Taj Gibson, who is in the final year of his contract. Gibson is scheduled to make $8.9 million.
The Bulls would then have Nikola Mirotic, Bobby Portis and Robin Lopez leading the way in the front court.
Teams like the Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons are interested in Al Horford.
The Heat would try their best to replace Whiteside with Horford, while the Wizards might have to move Marcin Gortat to make room for Horford.
