My life under threat in jail: AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan

Aam Aadmi Party's MLA from Okhla constituency of Delhi, Amanatullah Khan, who is facing prosecution in the Delhi Chief Secretary assault case, has sought his transfer to another jail alleging that he may be "killed" in the Mandoli Jail, where he is lodged at present.

In an application submitted in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shefali Barnala Tandon, Khan, through his counsel Mohammed Irshad, alleged that he felt threatened inside the jail as "he was being beaten/threatened".

The application said that when the wife of the accused visited him in the jail, he told her that "he was being beaten/threatened by other inmates and has been harassed by many of the inmates and he is apprehending that he may be killed in jail during the custody."

Taking his application record, the Magistrate has summoned the Mandoli Jail superintendent on February 28.

Meanwhile, a Sessions court on Monday reserved order on the bail application of AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal in the assault case.

Additional Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna reserved the order for Tuesday on conclusion of arguments by counsel for the accused and the prosecution.

The MLA has sought bail from the Sessions court following the rejection of his previous bail application by Tandon. The Magistrate had also rejected the bail application of Khan.

Rejecting their bail applications, the Magistrate had said that "the investigation of the present case is at a premature stage. The submission of prosecution that if released on bail, the accused persons shall influence the witnesses, vital to prosecution case, and shall hamper investigation."
