The father of Saifullah, the slain terror accused who was said to be inspired by ISIS, has refused to accept his son's body saying he will have nothing to do with his son's body if he was 'anti-national'.
"A traitor can't be our son. We are Indians, we were born here, our forefathers were born here. One who indulges in anti-national activities can't be our son... we won't accept his body," he said.
Meanwhile, the father of terror suspects Imran and Faisal, who were arrested in Kanpur today, denied the charges against them. 'Faisal took care of a shop and Imran is married, has a daughter too. Danish is also my son, he had left home as I scolded him for not working,' he said.
The operation was carried out by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) who said that they had made Saifullah speak to his brother, over the phone and asked him to surrender. The cops said they tried to smoke him out by firing tear gas and chilli bombs inside the house but this didn't work. After which the cops claim to have taken the drastic step of killing him.
The cops claim to have found several arms and ammunitions, pistols, some papers, ISIS flag and many other materials from the spot. The cops have also claimed that the accused was a part of ISIS Khorasan module, a terror outfit associated with Al Qaeda.
Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre on Wednesday said India has been dealing with terror attacks for long and is capable of tackling incidents like the one in Lucknow where a suspected ISIS terrorist was killed.
ADG of Police (Law and Order) Daljit Chaudhary said the force went inside house and found the suspect dead along with weapons. He said the operation stands closed now and rest of the legal formalities will subsequently take place. IG Anit Terror Squad (ATS) Aseem Arun confirmed that the slain terror suspect was an active member of the Islamic State terror group.
