Jennifer Lawrence Beats Amy Schumer at Golden Globes, Says 'She'll Be Fine' - Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence beat the 'Trainwreck' Amy Schumer star in the best-actress comedy category at the Golden Globes 2016.
In spite of the friendly competition, Lawrence and Schumer kept their separate red-carpet appearances lighthearted, telling reporters how excited they were to attend their first formal Hollywood function together.
When the time came for the category's winner to be announced, Schumer and Lawrence shifted seats inside the Beverly Hilton ballroom so that they were sitting next to each other when the victor, who turned out to be Lawrence, was called.
"She's going to be fine," Lawrence said of Schumer, after a journalist asked if she felt bad about defeating Schumer. "It wasn't a matter of feeling bad because she's funny and hilarious and will win many things. I just really expected Amy to win. This was very truly surprising for me. I was just really surprised," Lawrence said.
Though, she outdid Schumer in Sunday's awards arena, Lawrence said she was still excited to celebrate the evening with the Emmy winner, in addition to her frequent film collaborator David O. Russell.
