I am being framed in false cases, claims Narayan Sai

Hours after being arrested by a joint team of Delhi and Gujarat police controversial godman Asaram Bapu's son, Narayan Sai, today said that the cases against him were false and he was being framed.

I am being framed, Sai told his supporters after he was brought to Ambedkar hospital in Delhi for medical examination. The Delhi Police will produce him before a court later in the day and it is expected that the Surat Police will seek his transit remand from the court and take him to Gujarat for interrogation.

Sai has been evading arrest for the last 58 days. He has been arrested on charges of sexual assault. Talking about Sai's arrest, Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner, Surat) said, "He was intercepted near Pipli. He tried to run away but the cops chased him and he was finally captured. Sai will be produced in Rohini court today after transit remand, we will bring him to Surat."

On his part, Surat Police Commissioner has thanked the Delhi Police crime branch for helping Surat police in nabbing the absconding spiritual guru.

Besides Sai, the police also arrested Hanuman, Bhavika and two other accomplices of Narayan Sai. The police was looking for Sai across the country, who has been absconding since the filing of a rape complaint against him in Surat, Gujarat on October 6.

The case against Sai was field by a 30-year-old woman, who accused Sai of raping her between 2001 and 2005. Two Surat-based sisters have filed rape complaints against Sai and his father Asaram Bapu at different police stations in Gujarat.

Sai was recently declared a "proclaimed absconder" by a Gujarat court. Arrest warrant was issued by a Surat court in Sai's name in connection with the FIR on October 28 under Section 70 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
