Gurgaon: Two Nepalese women accuse Saudi diplomat of raping, torturing them - The horror in a Saudi Arabian diplomat's bungalow was exposed on Monday, when two women employed as domestic helps gave the police a disturbing account of gang-rape, torture and slavery.
Two Nepalese women were rescued on Monday from the bungalow in Gurgaon near Delhi. Over a period of three months, the women were allegedly raped and tortured by different men who visited the house.
One of them, a 50-year-old from Morang in Nepal, got divorced recently and required money to survive. The other woman, 20, has two little children in Nepal's Baglung, and a husband who is suffering from cancer.
They were employed as helps but were never given salary. They alleged that they were scared to tell anyone, because they were beaten and threatened.
The whole incident came to light when a newly hired help fled after seeing the despicable condition of the women. She contacted a non-profit - Meitei India - which approached the police.
As per reports, Diplomatic immunity may complicate investigations into the case. In cases like this, when the police list the charges against the diplomat, the foreign ministry can ask for immunity to be waived or the diplomat can be asked to leave the country.
The Embassy of Saudi Arabia has denied all the allegations.
