Two Class 12 students of a government school in west Delhi's Nangloi area allegedly stabbed their teacher in front of their classmates Monday, after one of them was rusticated for low attendance, said police.
The teacher, Mukesh Kumar (50), received stab wounds in his abdomen, thigh and waist, said police. Kumar, who was a PGT teacher and taught Hindi, was being treated at Balaji Action Hospital but his condition was critical and he later succumbed to his injuries, police added.
The teacher was stabbed at around 4.30 pm when he came out of a classroom after conducting a half-yearly examination, said police. The two students stopped him and they had an argument during which one of them took out a knife and stabbed him several times, police said.
Reports said one of the two students was rusticated from the school on September 12 as he had remained absent for many days. The school had issued a notice to his parents about the rustication.
Police said the students possibly were outraged by the rustication.
After stabbing the teacher, both students ran away. Other students informed school authorities, following which police was called.
