Chennai: Madras HC advocate shot dead near Mamallapuram - A practicing advocate Kamesh Srinivasan (32), who was found with bullet wounds near Mamallapuram succumbed to injuries on Monday.

Kamesh who was conscious after getting shot, called his friend Selvam who took him to a hospital. As per reports, another friend who was with Kamesh, Eswaran, is on the run.

Kamesh, who is a resident of Besant Nagar in Chennai, was practising in the Madras High Court. Police have specified that Kamesh had gone to Pondicherry with Eswaran and they were coming back to the city.

Apparently, their car hit a median on the road and a fight followed between the two. The police have yet not been able to determine whether Eswaran, who has the gun, shot at Kamesh intentionally or the trigger went off accidentally.

Reports indicated that both the friends had been drinking at the time of the accident. Eswaran, who is alleged to be involved in illegal activities, was known to Kamesh as he represented him in several bail pleas.

The matter is under investigation and police are on the look-out for Eswaran.
