Baahubali makes box office history with more than Rs 160 cr worldwide - SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali,' which released in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi in 4000 plus theaters across the world, has grossed Rs 163 crore or $25.6 million worldwide.
The movie is the highest day one grosser for any Indian Film, Rs 50 Cr, which beat Happy New Year's Rs 45 Cr. It has the highest opening weekend for the Hindi version Rs 22 Cr as compared to any dubbed movie. Baahubali is also the highest grosser among any Hindi dubbed movie.
The film is the fastest to reach the Rs 50 Cr and Rs 100 Cr. The three day total is a net collection of Rs 145 Cr, which is the highest for any Indian Film ever. Baahubali has the highest opening and opening weekend for an Indian film in the U.S. Box Office.
All the revenue records for regional films were shattered within the first two days. The per screen average collections were $17k, second only to Minions who's per screen average was $27k over the weekend.
According to producers Arka Media Works, Baahubali was released in more than 4650 movie theatres worldwide. The dubbed Hindi version opened in 2000 theatres which is the highest for any dubbed film.
Baahubali also opened in over 1350 screens in Telangana and Andhra, about 350 in Tamil Nadu, 150 in Kerala, 300 in Karnataka, and nearly 250 screens in the U.S.
The movie has seen 40 percent growth in day-to-day earning in Hindi dub version. This follows the huge openings in Southern India which saw a nearly 100 percent occupancy from day 1 itself.
The movie has an IMDB rating of 9.5, and is the most talked about film on social media with a lot of buzz about the CGI and VFX in the film.
